An optimized data fusion strategy for structural damage assessment using electromechanical impedance

Abstract This paper proposes a new sensor network optimized data fusion approach for structural health monitoring of metallic structures using electromechanical impedance (EMI) signals. The integrated used to fuse common healthy state baseline model based damage detection, quantification and classification in EMI technique. Towards this, the principal component analysis (PCA) is carried out corresponding root mean square deviation (RMSD) index calculated study information piezoelectric transducer’s (| Z |), admittance Y resistance ( R ), conductance G ) frequency domain. A proposed which was realized at level PCA as well variable self-organizing maps (SOMs). SOM comparative studies are performed Q-statistics (Q index) Hotelling’s T 2 statistic (T index). methodology tested validated an aluminum plate with multiple drilled holes size locations. In process, centralized data-fused eigenvector prepared from structure responses projected on this model. statistical, data-driven matrices compared RMSD SOM. method shows robust sensitivity hole locations enlargement irrespective wide range selection, selected contains resonant range.
